Kirby Misperton Constitutional Club First General Meeting
The first General Meeting in connection with Kirby Misperton Constitutional Club (built and presented to the village of Kirby Misperton by Alderman J R Twentyman Esq of Kirby Misperton Hall) was held in the large Hall of the Club on Monday February 4th 1924.
There was a very good company present. Mr S C Harper, Land Agent, briefly explained the objects for which the Club had been built and also intimated that Mr W J Wilson of the Home Farm had been selected as a likely candidate for the office of Chairman of the Committee. On the motion of Mr Wm. Simpson and seconded by Mr H Hood, Mr Wilson was appointed for the post.
Mr Wilson was unavoidably absent at the commencement of the meeting, and the Rev. F W Drake officiated as Chairman until Mr Wilson arrived.
Mr S C Harker proposed, and Mr Wm. Simpson seconded that the following gentlemen should serve as members of the Committee. Mr H Hood, Mr Wm Simpson, Mr Bramley, Mr E Crome, Mr G Shepherd, Mr F Ward, Mr H Simpson and Mr D Ward. The proposition was carried unanimously.
Mrs E Mortimer raised the question of a Women's Institute and after some discussion it was decided to leave the matter for settlement by the Committee.
This concluded the business for the evening.
